While exploring Spring Creek in Cooke County, a premier collecting site in North Texas, I personally unearthed impressive specimens of ammonites including Eopachydiscus, Mortoniceras, and Idiohamites. Of particular note were the Eopachydiscus, some of which astonishingly measured up to three feet in diameter. Although this region is renowned for its fossil abundance, it's worth mentioning that most of the sites here are located on private land. The sheer abundance of Eopachydiscus is so remarkable that in certain areas, one can practically tread across the creek over them. These incredible finds hail from the Cretaceous period, specifically the Albian stage, within the Duck Creek Formation, dating back approximately 103 million years ago. I am unsure the exact species of this particular ammonite.
