Regular price $150.00 $100.00 Sale

Burmese (Burmite) amber is difficult to acquire and has been dated to be Cretaceous in age (around 100 million years old) and would have been sticky resin during the time of the dinosaurs and is being mined in the Hukawng Valley in Myanmar (Burma). I do not actively source Burmite Amber due to the ethical complications of to its alleged role in funding internal conflict in Myanmar and hazardous working conditions in the mines where it is collected.

Burmite (Burmese) amber is difficult to acquire and has been dated to be Cretaceous in age (around 100 million years old) and would have been sticky resin during the time of the dinosaurs and is being mined in the Hukawng Valley in Myanmar (Burma).

This is a fully polished piece of Burmite (Burmese) amber that contains a superb Mycetophilid fly with long legs and a Psychodid fly. The Mycetophilid fly would have fed on ancient fungus.

These insects may have sat on a dinosaur as they would have been trapped from the time of the dinosaurs including T-Rex and Triceratops. The piece itself weighs 1.4 grams with dimensions of 1.8 cm length by 1.5 cm width and 0.5 cm height. NOTE: 2.54 cm is 1 inch.
