This piece is not for sale.
SPECIES: Mercenaria permagna
LOCATION: Ruck's Pit in Florida
AGE: Pliocene (1.5-3 million years old)
This is a Great Fossil Specimen of a Mercenaria permagna clam from the Pliocene Era (about 1.5 - 3 million years old), from Rucks Pit, Florida. The main clam shell is large, very well defined and loaded with fluorescent, amber colored dog tooth calcite crystals. Attached to the side is a cluster of shells in matrix that have been completely replaced by calcite. There is even a imprint of a shell on the top of the matrix cluster. It's a stunning fossil addition to any collection! This quality is getting harder and harder to find.
